  1. I think it's unfair as there is a lot of people that rely on the x1 people work in Liverpool

    1. Yes it will socially isolate runcorn, and probably discourage people moving here.

  2. I think this is disgusting pulling yet more buses from runcorn it is becoming a ghost town where you cannot get anywhere some people dont drive and rely on public transport you should lower your bus fares a bit if your going to cut them to near on nothing!

    ReplyDelete
  3. The x1is the only direct bus to Liverpool it's bad enough you now have to get it at Halton hospital I can not believe that it is not variable lots use it for work hospital appointments college please don't stop the service you could at least go back to 1 an hour

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think its not right people use this service as a means for work purposes instead of withdrawing the service entirely maintain the morning route and evening route reinstate the original route at windmill hill but maybe cut the runs during the day giving folks the chance to keep jobs

    ReplyDelete
  5. me as a disabled person who doesnt drive, rely on this x1 bus every month to get me to liverpool so I can attend my hospital appointments. if this is cancelled I can not get to my appointments which means my medication will be stopped which then means my MS progresses and I become more disabled!! please do not remove this bus!!!!

  6. Wow this is shocking I don’t drive and I use this bus regular for shopping trips with my little boy, you could argue I could get the 500/79c however that would be the case for everyone & mean less pram spaces so would I even get on the bus!. Not only that what about the people who work in Liverpool it’s going to affect people’s livelyhoods & the shops around that area won’t take as much business. Not to mention I know many elderly people who use this service to get out and socialise its going to take away people’s independence! I can’t belive that I’m even having to write this, what are Arrivas reasons? Can’t be money because the buses are always packed there’s no way your company can’t afford to put this service on

    1. I agree it's shocking. I'm devastated to find this out. Get in touch with your mp. It will further socially isolate people in runcorn and even stop people moving here, and people moving out to avoid that isolation.

  7. Disgraceful. Hospital, football, family. Very valuable service for many people.

  8. This doesnt make sense.. I travel from Fazackerley to runcorn with my children and it's long enough getting the 61 then the x1 I'd have to get the 61 then the 79c then the 500 then another bus.. and that's after my kids have spent all day in school.. silly move to remove this service.

    ReplyDelete
  9. God damn joke you already took 79c off us, but your quick enought putting bus tickets up, How else are we ment to get to work, going cost more as we would have to get the train as that 500 take the mic to get to liverpool

    ReplyDelete
  10. This is ridiculous, i use the x1 to visit my family almost every week you cant take it away, alot of people rely on the x1 i take my daughter to see her grandparents on the x1 your taking away yet another life line for some people

    ReplyDelete
  11. This is outrageous what about the people who use this service to get to work? It's a very busy service morning and evening. You have already taken the 79c away from us,surely this defeats government targets to take cars off the roads? The service you provide is already cut to the bone across the borough and it's almost impossible to get anywhere after 8pm. Disgraceful

    1. Yes I agree, socially isolating the residents. Going to speak to my mp. People will move out and won't be encouraged to move here.

  12. Great an added two hours to my day absolutely ridiculous don't know how it's unsustainable

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ridiculous arriva, you are taking away so many services and merging them to be 2 hour mystery tours and now this, what you need to do is run the services you have more efficiently and leave the x1 as it is - a route I have been taking for 30 years! (X5) sort it out rather than stop it completely!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I travel from the Wirral to Runcorn for work using buses almost exclusively so I am pretty reliant on this X1 service. The constant changes to it have been an absolute pain for me over the last 2 years, especially the most recent change of having it stop at Halton Hospital as I actually work near Windmill Hill. This change alone has added around an hour to my commute home. Not to mention it was never very reliable in the first place.
If these constant changes hadn't been happening my guess is the service would have remained sustainable and this wouldn't even be an issue.

    ReplyDelete
  15. This is absolutely ridiculous! It is the only bus that is direct to liverpool and getting customers to use a service that that's almost 2 hours instead is shocking. The X1 has been going for years and should continue to run for people with medical needs, shopping need, people who go for a day out to liverpool, and for university and college students. I'm sure the bus gets used enough by passengers to keep it running

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree with all the previous comments, what are our local politicians doing about this!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Absolutley shocking, we travel to liverpool after school every friday to take kids to see other family members for the weekends and during holidays, if they pull plug on x1 then thats gonna add 1hr travel time each way for me and kids, have you tried having 2 toddlers sit still for 2 hrs on a bus with no toilet breaks allowed

    ReplyDelete
  18. Arriva dont take the X1 away, loads of people rely on it, it's a busy service, how you can say its unsustainable is beyond me. I also use the X1 to visit family, it's a great route, people do not want to have to travel on the 500 which takes 2 hours to get to liverpool which is a total joke!! Keep the X1 service!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. If this bus service goes I will no longer be going to Liverpool. Its to difficult and would take too long with the other services such a shame arriva can't see how much this will effect the community of runcorn we rely on this bus.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Farcical and inconsiderate leaving folk who need the x1 for all things with an extra 2 hour journey time. And no doubt higher fares to follow as well. Plus widnes lost their express service as well.. poor planning from 2 bus companies. Could have doubled up the service or part of.

    ReplyDelete
  21. How is this service not viable? I have been using this bus route for many years and everytime I have always found it to be full with standing room only. Is this because they are closing the depo in Runcorn?

    ReplyDelete
  22. This is a vital service for those of us who live in runcorn and work in liverpool . How are we supposed to commute to work . It's been bad enough coping with the change of routes and timetable. This is just unacceptable .

    ReplyDelete
  23. The estates of Runcorn need the bus services, if anything with profits Arriva are making local services should be extended till later in the evenings, we all don't close the curtains and go to bed at 6pm, plus believe it or not Runcorn for those that don't know has its own busway not many towns in the UK can say that, it's about time the bus companies started utilising this fact.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Absolute disgrace so many people rely on this bus for work! Their working day is long enough with their travel time being almost doubled on a daily basis!! Working families dont get to spend enough time with their families as it is! Going to get even less now if you pull this service!! If it's not sustainable why not just try taking it down to one bus per hour for now at least until the old bridge opens giving the bus the direct link over the water rather than having to come down the expressway to cross the new bridge. The people of runcorn will soon be secluded if you carry on removing services

    ReplyDelete
  25. This is appaliing. The only bus that goes direct to Liverpool from Runcorn. Already removed the Sunday service leaving a lot of people stuck. Luckily I drive but my young children like going on the bus to Liverpool in the Summer so we leave the car at home. My Mum relies on buses and goes to Liverpool twice a week. Not very community spirited

    ReplyDelete
  26. WHY are you doing this there are workers relying on this service to get to work or appointmemt's, it means they would have to go out earlier to get the other Liverpool bus and arrive home much later, it's as if the commuters from Runcorn are being punished from all directions.please reconsider.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Why are we part of the city region if they are cutting our transport. We’re just a cash cow for liverpool. Steve Rotherham needs to start looking after all the people who pay his Salary, not just the centre of Liverpool. I assume this service must have peak usage for commuters so why not just keep those and reduce the rest of the day to an hourly service.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don’t drive and I use this bus to get to work. If this is removed I will have to travel 2 hours and back to work everyday rather than the one hour it takes. Not only this but I also get a bus from town further into liverpool. This may be selfish but a 2 hour journey for an 8 hour shift that will make my day a 12 hour before I get home. This will effect my lifestyle and I’m suffering with depression and anxiety as it is and removing this bus together will only increase my mental health struggles further and I don’t think I’d be able to cope.

    ReplyDelete
  29. This bus is always jam packed whatever time of day if anything the service needs to be increased !!!!!! Why on earth would you withdraw a service which is quite obviously much needed it beggars belief !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. rerouting a service just so you can then claim there is no demand is very unprofessional and makes your company look even worse than it is, removing the ability for people to comment on you social media posts proves you don't want to listen to your customers, there is a demand for this service and people need it, more than the bosses need a big bonus and expense accounts

    ReplyDelete
  31. This bus is so important for so many people cutting this bus is a stupid idea. You'd ruine people's livelihood

    ReplyDelete
  32. Find this very surprising as service seems to be very busy on most buses during the day.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Im disabled and use this bus as a direct root to see my elderly mum who is really ill and without this bus i wont be able to see her as much as i can't travel for long due to agonizing pain so thanks for that

    ReplyDelete
  34. My mother in law and her friend use this service at least once a week as a minimum. They have no other means of transport. Be interesting to see the rationale behind the service being 'unsustainable'.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I recon it will be a bad idea withdrawing the x1 as its the only arriva bus that goes to windmill hill of a night and plus there people who work in Liverpool who use that bus to get back as they don't drive withdrawing the bus will course alot of problem for the people who work in liverpool and who live in runcorn in windmill hill. Area castlefelds area

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is not right to spend nearly two hours on a cramp bus or get a bus and a train into Liverpool its going to get to the stage were it costs too much money in fares and too much time to get into liverpool

    ReplyDelete
  37. The X1 is a fast and economical route into liverpool. The 500 takes far too long and isn’t an option, especially for commuters.

    ReplyDelete
  38. And it's taken 30 yrs to decide it's unsustainable???

    ReplyDelete
  39. There is only one word to describe this senseless decision by Arriva.. PATHETIC... The X1 is a viable bus service and is always packed with commuters.. If Arriva dont reconsider and overturn their decision i will never use Arriva transport again

    ReplyDelete
  40. Use the X1 5 days a week 7am - 5pm to get to Aigburth, will have to consider cancelling my degree and work should this decision go ahead, I am disgusted.

    ReplyDelete
  41. They're doing this to try and force the council to stop charging them for the bridge. Halton transport should create their own express service to Liverpool instead.

    ReplyDelete
  42. This is ridiculous how are we suppose to get to see our families when we cant drive and we rely on this bus and the people who have to travel to work and university’s in Liverpool bus services are bad enough

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is ridiculous people rely on this bus service to and from runcorn and now it only runs from the hospital to liverpool and back to the hospital doesn't even go past there to palacefileds onto murdishaw unless it's really early or tea time and when there is big events on people rely on it to get them there and back it's coming up to Christmas and people do their Christmas shopping there it's like we are the forgotten town we are the ones to always miss out we use the bus service to travel around and get children to school, doctors, hospitals, work, visiting family, shopping ect the 500 takes the Michael it's for to long for anyone to be on and there needs to be a quicker route

    ReplyDelete
  44. My daughter uses this service to get to college and back. Without it we will struggle to afford to travel. She doesn’t finish her course until June 2020 but there will be many students that rely on this service and made their college choice heavily based on the x1 service. This will have a detrimental effect on their education. And what about the people travelling to work?

    ReplyDelete
  45. The Council are getting a new road sign made to read
WELCOME TO RUNCORN. BRITAINS BIGGEST OPEN PRISON
cos people like myself who don’t drive will be trapped here
What about people who work in Liverpool , and to get the 500 well that takes as long as going to London by train leave the buses alone improve services not deplete them

    ReplyDelete
  46. I get that when I go to Liverpool it is quicker and plus husband get travel sick on the longer journeys

    ReplyDelete
  47. Disgraceful.
How can they get away with this it is a popular bus

    ReplyDelete
  48. X5 going now x1 in jan whats going on, goverment say get people to use public transport impossible when they are taking our buses from us.x5 is the only bus i can get direct to lpool, when i found out it was finishing i thought i will get a bus from widnes to runcorn old town then pick the x1 up to lpool but no now the x1 stopping rediculous. God help the poor people going to work every day think again arriva!.

    ReplyDelete
  49. it will turn runcorn into more of a backwater than it already is

    ReplyDelete
  50. This is not fair for the people of Runcorn who travel every day to get to work.

    ReplyDelete
  51. This is not fair for the people of Runcorn who get the x1liverpoolbus to go to work or doing there shopping

    ReplyDelete
  52. Unfortunately Passenger satisfaction and reliance are secondary to profit! when they say 'unsustainable' you can substitute the word unprofitable...prove me wrong arriva

    ReplyDelete
  53. What difference will it make if people have their say? Will it actually change your decision?
    Methink not.

    ReplyDelete
  54. For me, Arriva went the wrong way when the started paring back the X5 as it once was and stopping the Sunday service before finally renaming the service and changing the route making it a lengthier and tedious trek around Runcorn estates rather than the Express service it actually once was. I've seen this coming for a while. People will vote with their feet and get there by other means. I now travel to Liverpool by train - cheaper and quicker. Arriverderci Arriva.... you've done this to yourselves. What a joke!

    ReplyDelete
  55. They claimed the Sunday service wasn't used enough, but the bus was always full?! Suddenly Runcorn people without cars or within easy reach of Runcorn station had less opportunity to spend their precious leisure time in a city they love. Downhill from there! Arriva, you are a shambles

    ReplyDelete
  56. Call yourselves a public service?!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. The 500 takes around 2 hours to get to Liverpool, do you really think it’s fair For people to travel for 4 hours each day to get to work and back ?!

    ReplyDelete
  58. This is going to add two hours to my Dads working day getting to work and back to travel each day. This is really unfair. He has worked his whole life in a manual job and just needs to get home each evening to rest. Shame on you arriva!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Scandalous. Beyond belief. They cannot be allowed to let this happen

    ReplyDelete
  60. It's awful to take another bus off to cover Runcorn the 500 takes 2 hours I cant sit that long the 79C stops at widnes the 82A stopped 110 doesn't go through castlefields after 6pm X1 is a convenient bus service and should be 7 days a week not think of withdrawing X1 service completely

    ReplyDelete
  61. What another service getting scrapped it's becoming a joke now. Sorry i ever moved to this town i have never know such a shambles. I moved here to start a new life but because of the bus service feel like i am trapped. :(

    ReplyDelete
  62. Can you explain how it is unsustainable and how it can be made sustainable without cancelling the service? You may argue thier are other services to Liverpool but this is the express service and removal of it could reduce a person's work life balance and send a person into a spiral. Public service is just that, a public service. You need to speak to regular users of the service.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I visit my friend regularly and rely on this bus as live in Liverpool. From experience the bus is always near full so is worth running the service. It already finishes at Halton Hospital, now you’re wanting to stop it altogether. Absolutely ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  64. It beggars belief that they are withdrawing this service citing underused but it was`nt to long ago that they altered the service to run along Clifton Road Moughland Lane and Greenway Road and then withdrawing the 82A which covered them routes , now they are getting shut of the X1 , what will be in its place -NOTHING . You can get the 500 which takes near 2 hrs get to Liverpool making people late for work. Go back to basics , take the X1 back to its routes and ensure the drivers register passes and tickets on their machines to give an accurate picture who is using the service instead of nodding their head and letting the people board.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Its no secret Arriva want out of some of their commitments , hence , why their bus division is about to be sold by DB to two interested parties , one being chinese. Whats the best way to show a business is not doing to well , alter services from established routes reducing passenger numbers making the route unsustainable. Take it back to its routes , it will soon make money.

    ReplyDelete
  66. So a massive company like Arriva cannot afford to run this service. B*ll*cks. Taking this service away from regular users will have a detrimental effect on their lives. This is a disgusting thing to consider/do. How can you claim that this service is not sustainable? Every time I see this bus or get it, it's packed. Expecting commuters to add two hours to their Woking day by taking the 500, too. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  67. This bus is always full in the morning and standing room only on the return journey late afternoon. I cannot speak of the capacity used between 11am and 4pm. What in the great scheme of ideas made anyone dream that this was the bus to axe? There must have been some thought and reasoning as to why this service has been earmarked! It will be a sad loss to the community of Runcorn. I’ve only once used the 500 to Liverpool and never again. The length of the journey was what nightmares are made of weaving in and out of estates. We people of Runcorn don’t get much in the way of perks please leave our X1 service alone.

    ReplyDelete
  68. If we are part of the city region why is this bus, which gives us the quickest accessfir work, hospital appointments, visits to family etc being withdrawn. I am going to write to Steve Rotheram. Leave the X1 service alone
